Description	:	Jesse Prentiss Hatch was a soldier in the Crimean War on the British side. He served for 11 years, until being burned. He had been badly disfigured when a powder magazine blew up in his face. His appearance frightened the neighborhood children in Deer Hill, but his friendly words and gifts of apples made him less terrifying.
