Description	:	We are not sure where Jesse Williams died. A note in a Bible of his daughter says "both died with her that is in her house" assuming whoever wrote the entry was referring to Jesse and Nancy and their only daughter and knew what he/she was talking about. But possibly it was meant at Jesse's house where daughter Eliza lived as a young lady. Jesse was living with his youngest son in Moorefield Twp on the 1860 census. * Belmont Ridge Cemetery is about one block inside the Belmont County line from Harrison County. -------- The Cadiz Democratic Sentinel, Cadiz, Ohio, Wed., May 28, 1862, pg 3, contains the following in the Editor's column: A friend writing to us from Moorefield township on last Friday, wonders why some one has not informed us of the deaths of .... and that an old man named Jesse Williams was found dead on B. Bethel's land, not far from an old vacant house .... These events all took place in that township since the 1st of February. .... -------- We also do not know for sure where Jesse was born. He gave Virginia as his birth place but various other family members have given Scotland or Wales. Since he had military service, he would have been granted citizenship if he had been born out of country and those men often adopted their state of residence as the birth place. The Fauquier Co., Virginia, courthouse has burned several times so there wasn't much left to help identify Jesse's origins. Perhaps family DNA participation will eventually add another dimension .... or more questions.
