Jessie Brown Dick was born June 10, 1860 in Ontario, Canada. She departed this life Dec. 19, 1925. She came with her parents, when but a child to Lynn county, Iowa, where they lived four years. Following her mother's death the family moved to Tama county, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was there married Aug. 4, 1881 to Robert R. Gordon. To this union three children were born, two daughters and a son. This union was broken by death Oct. 20, 1887. After her husband's death with her children and father, she moved to Huron, S.D., living there on a homestead seven years. On March 15, 1894, she was married to W.H. Youel at Huron, S.D. The following years they moved to Nebraska. To this union four children were born, one son and three daughters. Since 1906 she has made her home in Creighton, where she lived at the time of her decease. Mrs. Youel spent her life as a pioneer in this great central west territory and the passion of her heart was to help others. No day was too cold and no night too dark for her to answer a call for help and many a cup has she held to parched lips and many a feverish pillow have her hands smoothed. She united with the Presbyterian church in girlhood, of which church she remained a member until twelve years ago, when she united with the Adventist church. She is survived by her five children; Mrs. Geo. Agler and George Youel of Creighton; Mrs. Fred Blankenfeld of Niobrara; Mrs. Ralph Cunningham of Bravo, Mich.; Mrs. J.J. Hegarty of Omaha and three stepsons, Chalmers Youel of Madison, Clayborn Youel of Niobrara; Louis Youel of Aberdeen, S.D.; one sister, Mrs. Geo. McClung of Caldwell, Idaho; three brothers, G.S. Dick of Madison, Wis.; D.S. Dick of Hawarden, Ia. and Findley Dick of Ebons, Minn. One son, Robert, died in 1919 and a daughter, Velma in 1921. There are eleven grandchildren, three of whom, made their home with her. The funeral was held from the M.E. church Monday morning, conducted by Rev. Littrell and the remains laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery. The News joins with the friends of the bereaved in extending condolences to the sorrowing in this mournful hour.
