Read More	"LAMONI LADY KILLED IN COLLISION SUNDAY Chronicle Employee Lost Life Sunday Morning in Accident Near Corydon, Iowa; Husband Injured" Mrs. Jessie Doxtater, 69, Chronicle employee for many years was killed in an auto collision on a wooden Burlington railroad bridge 4 miles east of Corydon, Iowa on Highway No. 2 Sunday morning about 9 a. m. Mr. and Mrs. Doxtater and grandson, Jimmie Sullivan, were on their way to Albin, Iowa, to spend the day with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cole. Mrs. Doxtater's husband was driving the car which was passing a road grader on the bridge when it collided with another auto, according to Highway Patrolman Joe Dixon. Mr. Doxtater, 68, suffered a broken knee cap and internal chest injuries according to reports and is a patient at the Decatur County Hospital at Leon where he remains in serious condition. The driver of the other car was Robert Elgin of Centerville, Iowa, owner of several clothing stores in southern Iowa. He suffered chest injuries and a broken nose. His wife was uninjured. Left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Doxtater besides her husband are her two daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cole and family of Albin, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivan and family of Lamoni, two brothers James Roberts and E. A Roberts of Lamoni. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon with burial in Rose Hill cemetery. OBITUARY - JESSIE DOXTATER Jessie Roberts Doxtater, daughter of Emmanuel and Charlotte Anderson Roberts, was born in St. Louis, Mo., August 29, 1876, and deported this life February 10, 1946, near Corydon, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and II days. She moved with her parents from St. Louis to Lamoni vicinity, where she has been a resident since that time. At an early age, she was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. On April 7, 1907, she was united in marriage to Alma M. Doxtater also of Lamoni. To this union, two children were born, Maxine, Mrs. Gilbert Cole of Albia, Iowa, and Wanda, Mrs. James Sullivan of Lamoni, Iowa. She was a kind, devoted companion and mother, always willing to share her life freely for others. In addition to her home and church work, and the years of faithful service in her daily employment, she had enjoyed the love and care of her little grandson, Jimmy, who was a joy and comfort to her in later years. She leaves to mourn her untimely passing her companion, two daughters, seven grandchildren, two brothers, Emmanuel and James, both of Lamoni, besides other relatives, neighbors, associates, and a host of friends.
