Read More	Wenatchee World - Tuesday, June 8, 2010 Jimmie Dale Walker, age 81, of Oroville, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. He was born on November 4, 1928, in Omak, WA, to parents, Eugene Walker and Marie Thompson. Jimmie Dale grew up in Oroville, where he attended school. He entered the Navy and served in Europe at the end of World War II. He then joined the Air Force and went to Korea. After nine years of military service, he moved back to Oroville and operated the family orchard. On June 25, 1954, he married the love of his life, Virginia Finley, and together they had four children. His family was his greatest love and priority. Jimmie expanded the family apple business to where he owned and operated three orchards. He then, with his brother-in-law, George Ehlers, purchased the Western Auto Store in Oroville, which they ran successfully for many years. Jimmie Dale then went into the real estate business, which he was very successful at and also enjoyed immensely, as it gave him the opportunity to meet many people, who became lifelong friends and re-explore the northern Okanogan country, which he dearly loved. Jimmie was extremely proud of the Oroville community and felt a duty to give back to it for the life it provided him and his family. He did this through serving on various civic boards, coaching baseball, PeeWee thru Babe Ruth and high school bowling, serving on the City Council and later becoming Mayor of Oroville, where he was instrumental in the Oroville Industrial Park and Deep Bay City Park. Jimmie Dale was an avid bowler and a fanatical golfer who helped establish the Oroville Golf Course. His retirement years consisted of working seasonally in the orchard business, traveling the Northwest with Virginia to visit their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and, over his last 15 years, averaging well over 100 rounds of golf per year at his beloved Oroville Golf Club. He was a member of the Oroville Golf Club, the Oroville American Legion and Faith Lutheran Church. Special appreciation goes to the staff of the Critical Care Unit of Central Washington Hospital. The professionalism they demonstrated was only surpassed by their genuine compassion and concern for our loving father and husband, Jimmie Dale Walker. Jimmie Dale is survived by his wife, Virginia, at home; four children, Terri (Bruce) Didesch of Spokane, Doug Walker of Oroville, Dale (Cheryl) Walker of Woodinville and Tina (Dan) Nolting of Meridian, ID; two sisters, Myrna Hoptowit of Oroville and Joy Ehlers of Tonasket; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Doug; and a granddaughter, Jamie. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the Oroville American Legion, with Pastor Dan Kunkel and the Oroville American Legion officiating. Memorials may be made to a cancer society of your choice. Bergh Funeral Service of Oroville/Tonasket is in charge of arrangements.
