Read More	Jimmie Eugene “Jim” Corbin, 69, of Gridley, Kansas, passed away June 30, 2015, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City. Jim was born on November 23, 1945, at Burlington, Kansas, the son of Vernie W. “Pete” and Helen M. (Zink) Corbin. He grew up in Lamont and Yates Center. After finishing school, he went to work in the hay fields, which led to him becoming a professional truck driver. He was married to Peggy Ilene Hunt. They lived in Chanute and later divorced. On November 10, 1985, he was married to Alexandra Blaylock at Dillon, South Carolina. They made their home in Fayetteville, North Carolina, until 1993, when they moved to Gridley. Jim had a passion for the road and was proud to be a professional driver. He drove for over 50 years and more than 6 million miles without an accident where he was at fault. Alex joined him on many of those runs. When he was not on the road, Jim was often busy at the Gridley Library, where he mowed the lawn and volunteered for any sort of thing they needed done, from cooking hot dogs to decorating and pulling the Library float every year in the July 4th parade. He had been active in the Streams-to-Rivers intergenerational group in Gridley, and was a member of Lamont Wesleyan Church and the Masonic Lodges at Gridley and Yates Center. He also loved to bowl, go fishing, and most of all, to play with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Wayne Corbin and his wife Beverly. He is survived by his wife, Alexandra, of the home; five children: Tina Martorelli, Jimmy Corbin and Sabrina Corbin, all of Tulsa, Heather Raposa and Stephanie Sharpe and fiancé Jimmy Shinn, Jr., all of Gridley; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Corbin and wife Joyce of Topeka; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, with burial following at Graceland Cemetery. The family will meet with friends for visitation on Sunday, from 2 to 3 PM, at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to “Coffey County Cancer Support Group” or “Gridley Library” may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington KS 66839.
