Read More	Joan Arlene Pinette, 89, a long-time resident of Kettle Falls, Washington, passed away on Nov. 16 2020, in Spokane, Washington, following a hemorrhagic cerebral vascular accident. Arlene was born on September 14, 1931, in Farmington, New Mexico, the youngest of 13 children to Zach A. and Eva (Rascoe) Carson. She moved from New Mexico to Kettle Falls with her family at the age of six. There she was raised, attended school and graduated from Kettle Falls High School in 1948. She then worked at various local businesses for several years. In 1955, Arlene married William (Bill) Stanley Pinette and they purchased a home outside of Kettle Falls. Arlene worked in the home, raising their growing family. In 1966, Arlene, Bill and their five children moved to the remote "bush" community of King Salmon, Alaska. At first she worked in the home and then began clerking at the local grocery store. She also worked as a ticketing agent for Wien Air Alaska, a statewide air service provider. Joan and Bill returned to their Kettle Falls home in 1978. In the early 1980s, Arlene accepted a position at Rural Resources, which soon led to her work as a program manager for Catholic Charities in Colville, Washington. She retired in 1995 and devoted her time to her husband and family. After Bill's passing, Arlene lived independently and spent many hours in study of her Bible and expanding her walk with God. She also enjoyed working outdoors in her garden and caring for the needs of her home. She canned much of the garden harvest to support her family throughout the year. Arlene had an immense quiet strength and was a consummate confidant. She taught her children to be strong in character and yet serve humbly. Arlene, herself, served a steward of God's gifts, blessings and all that He provided her. She was actively involved in the Greenwood Chatter Maids and was a charter member of the King Salmon Ceramic Club, eventually purchasing her own kiln to create countless ceramic pieces for herself and others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on June 10, 2012, and all 12 of her siblings. Arlene is survived by her five children. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
