Description	:	The daughter of John & Josephine (Tomlin) Cornwall, Joan was born on August 8, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa. On February 11, 1955 she was united in marriage to Clifford Myron Brant in Newton. To this union seven children were born. Joan worked at the Canteen in Newton. She was also a cook for many years. She enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting angels, cooking and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. To this union seven children were born. Joan worked at the Canteen in Newton. She was also a cook for many years. She enjoyed going to garage sales, collecting angels, cooking and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Those left to honor Joan’s life are her children, Deb Brant of Colfax, Clifford “Junior” Brant and his wife Mianne of Newton, Gary Lee Brant also of Newton, Harry Edward Brant and his wife Betty of Colfax, Jolene Retman of Newton, James Brant of Colfax and Corey Brant of Des Moines. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a twin brother, John Cornwall and his wife Judy of Summersville, Missouri. Preceding Joan in death were her parents, John & Josephine (Tomlin) Cornwall and a husband, Clifford Myron Brant. Joan Kay Brant, age 68 of Colfax, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at the Colfax Cemetery. Visitation for Joan will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 from 2:00 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. The family will greet friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Joan Kay Brant Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
