Description	:	JoAnne Davis, 82, of Miletus Community near Salem, WV, on Friday, January 2, 2015, completed her walk on the road to heaven in her home with her family by her side. She was born April 11, 1932, in Clarksburg, the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Lucille Elizabeth “Douglas” Gabriel. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, James D. Read More	JoAnne Davis, 82, of Miletus Community near Salem, WV, on Friday, January 2, 2015, completed her walk on the road to heaven in her home with her family by her side. She was born April 11, 1932, in Clarksburg, the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Lucille Elizabeth “Douglas” Gabriel. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, James D. Davis, Jr., on June 15, 1952, and just celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They are the parents of three beautiful children who survive: James “Brad” Davis of California, William “Randy” Davis and wife LeAnna of Salem, and Kimberly Lou Sinnett and husband Justin of Salem; five grandchildren, Brandon Davis, Kevin Ferrell, Jonna JoAnne Ferrell, Clay Sinnett and Xavier Sinnett. Also surviving are four brothers, Bobby Gabriel (Mary Ann) of Clarksburg, Don Gabriel (Patty) of Smithburg, MD, Dave Gabriel (Mary) of Good Hope, and Jimmy Gabriel (“Pixie”) also of Good Hope; and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, JoAnne was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Gabriel, and a sister who died in infancy. JoAnne graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1950. JoAnne was a member of the Orpha Chapter # 30 Order of the Eastern Star in Salem, where she served as Worthy Matron 1977-1978. She went back to school, and she earned her degree in nursing from Salem College. She worked many years at United Hospital Center in the Recovery Room, I.V. Team and Critical Care Unit and continued her career as part of People’s Hospice for a total of 40 years. She wrote the poem, “A Walk on the Road to Heaven,” for a patient that she cared for. Her poem was recognized by People’s Hospice, and the poem and JoAnne were very instrumental in the Hospice Garden’s at the VA Park. Her poem was placed at the entrance of the park and on the floor of the Arbor written in stone. She enjoyed reading, was a very loving “Mamaw” and enjoyed spending quality time with her family. JoAnne enjoyed flowers and gardening and was an amazing cook. She loved her dogs and especially Dutchie and Sammie. Friends may call at Greathouse Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, from 2-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at noon with Rev. Vera Swiger presiding. Interment will follow at Salem I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Memorial Garden, C/O People’s Hospice, 327 Medical Park Dr., Bridgeport, WV 26330-9952 in her memory.
