It was there he met and married Maria Gesina Hummerdorf Siemer. Maria was a widow with two small children Anna and J. George. George and Maria were married on June 29, 1875. George's trade was as a stone molder. The trade requires using high heat to mold stone, brick, etc. into various shapes. The excessive heat used in the process was dangerous to anyone.
