Everything in medical science was provided for her but to no avail and she passed peacefully to the other world. Jennie Kurka Burkhart was born June 16 in the year 1868 at Gross-Lippen, Austria. At the age of three years she came to this county with her parents and settled at Niobrara, Nebraska, where she spent most of her earlier life. On Febr. 4, 1918 she was united in marriage to George Burkhart at Creighton, Nebr., where she made her home up to the time of her death. She passed away September 29 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 13 days. She leaves to mourn; her husband, George Burkhart, and three step daughters, Mrs. Adolph Kyriss, Creighton, Mrs. Rudolph Gabler, near Winner, S.D. and Mrs. Chas. Montgomery, Venus, Nebr.; three sisters, Misses Rosa and Anna Kurka, Niobrara and Mrs. W.H. Justin, Omaha, Nebr. Her parents and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Burkhart was known for her friendly disposition and a kind and home loving individual. Her consideration for the feeling of others and her desire to assist those in need, were two of the fine characteristics of her life. Her passing at this time is being mourned by a number of staunch and true friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday morning from the Zion Lutheran church with Rev. George Obermeyer officiating. The very large concourse of friends in attendance at the last rites bore evidence of the esteem in which she was held by friends. The floral bouquets were a mass of beauty, which further testified the sincerity of this good woman. The remains were interred in Greenwood cemetery. The bereaved husband and relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of grief.
