Description	:	George Beitzel was born in the small town of Barkenfehl North Rhine Westfalia then a part of the nation of Prussia. on 2 Oct 1836 he was married to Anna Katherina Schulta. They lived in Birkelbach in Heinrich Haus. George was a day laborer, his wife was a homemaker. They had 7 children, 4 of whom grew to adulthood. They could not own property, hunting and fishing were restricted (all game belonged to the government) and when the boys were 18 they were trained in the military, so it was important for the boys to leave before age 18 so they... Read More	George Beitzel was born in the small town of Barkenfehl North Rhine Westfalia then a part of the nation of Prussia. on 2 Oct 1836 he was married to Anna Katherina Schulta. They lived in Birkelbach in Heinrich Haus. George was a day laborer, his wife was a homemaker. They had 7 children, 4 of whom grew to adulthood. They could not own property, hunting and fishing were restricted (all game belonged to the government) and when the boys were 18 they were trained in the military, so it was important for the boys to leave before age 18 so they did not have to drill with the army. The mother Anna died June 6, 1854 from an illness called dropsy. She was only 44 years of age. Her son Heinrich left for America soon after that, arriving in America in 1855. After sons Lewis and Henry had come to America, Father John George came with the two youngest sons Young George and Christian and made the voyage to a new World in 1862.Once here, John George would stay with his sons Lewis and Henry, who lived across the road from one another in the Bittinger area. He was a basket weaver as well as a farmer, and he would weave baskets to sell. When he got too old to work much he would stay with his son Lewis in Bittinger until he died Feb 3,1893. His grave stone in St Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
