Johan Kitterman sold 100 Acres on South Fork Little River to Thomas Jordon in 1797. Johan Kitterman bought from Joshua Rentfre 242 Acres on Old Field Creek in 1798. Both of these streams are in the center of Floyd County. Johan Kitterman gave the land for the Floyd Cemetery, in the town of Floyd. By the time the Civil War was over all space was taken up. John owned land that took in what is now most of the corporate limits of the city of Floyd. When it was sold, it was done so in one-acre tracts. John's estate was settled Oct. 1835. Heirs listed are Wife, Julianna; children, George, David, Daniel, Henry, Phillip, Solomon, George Rupe, Isaac Phlegar and John Morrical. Johann Jacob Kettemann born in Frederick County, Maryland, August 16, 1772 and Baptized at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland on August 30, 1772 to Christoph and Christina Kettemann. Sponsors at his baptism were Balthasar Fuller and his wife and Johan Paul Gross and his wife. (Note by Virginia: This has to be an error in transcribing as John's stone says he was 66 years old when he died in 1833. This would make him born in 1767 two years after Henry.) Johann grew up on the family plantation in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland When he was about 20 years old, he married Julianna Sauer and they moved to Montgomery County, VA where in 1813 many of the early settlers, including Johann, built the Zion Lutheran Church. On April 30, 1805 Johann, written Johannes in the church record book, and Julianna have six of their seven children christened; Philip born September 11, 1794, Sophia born July 6, 1797, Daniel born March 30, 1799, George born January 5, 1801, Solomon born November 12, 1802 and Catharina born September 21, 1804. Peter born December 5, 1795 died July 13, 1797, is buried in the Floyd Cemetery in Floyd, VA. October 6, 1806 another son David is born to John and Julianna and christened February 12, 1809. Saloma is born July 11, 1812 and Elizabeth is born January 8, 1810 and both are christened November 23, 1813. Two more children are born, Henry July 15, 1814 and Jacob May 15, 1817. In 1831 John was taxed for 477 acres of land on south fork of Little River and two slaves. When John first moved here this area was Montgomery County. He owned two tanneries. Of the children of John and Julianna, Daniel, Jacob and Sophia Phlegar moved to Preble County, OH. Elizabeth Morrical moved to College Corner, OH. Philip, Solomon and Saloma Rupe moved to Wayne County, IN. Henry moved to Henry County, IN. George and David stayed in Floyd County, VA. John died December 27, 1833, his stone says "in his 66th year." Julianna was born August 6, 1772 and died August 22, 1855, aged 83 years, and 16 days. Both are buried in the Floyd Cemetery. John Kitterman pages 121-123 John Kitterman (1767-1833) was one of the largest landowners and taxpayers when the county of Floyd was organized in 1831. He, with Abraham Phlegar and Manassah Tice, lived on and owned the present site of the town of Floyd. His line joined Main Street and his lands extended south including all the southern portion of the town and the historic Stoker's Knob. His home stood near the present Primitive Baptist Church, and the home of his son, David, was just east of the late Judge Waller L. Howard's residence.
