BRIDGET HOWARD An Aged and Highly Respected Pioneer Woman Yields to Infection of the Heart. Mrs. Bridget Howard, one of the pioneer women of Greeley county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Brannen, in Spalding last Friday morning at 11 o'clock. Mrs. Howard had been in poor health for the last two years. She suffered from an affection of the heart. She went to Spalding a few weeks ago to visit at the home of her daughter. Her condition took a turn for the worse a few days ago. The deceased was a native of Ireland. When she came to this country she settled in Iowa. She afterward lived at Fullerton, Clarks, Central City and O'Neill. Her husband died about thirty years ago when the family lived at Central City. Mrs. Howard moved from Central City to Spalding and came to Greeley in 1894, where she resided with her son Thomas. Mrs. Howard is survived by two sons and two daughters. They are Eugene of Fremont, Thomas of Greeley, Mrs. M. R. Fogarty of Greeley and Mrs. Charles Brannen of Spalding. The funeral was held at St. Michael's church in Spalding yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial was at Spalding. Mrs. Howard was a kind and affectionate woman. She was beloved by all who knew her. A few weeks ago Mrs. Bridget Howard went to Spalding for a short visit with her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Brannen and family and while there suffered an attack of her old trouble, heart weakness and died on Friday morning, May 9th, after being in poor health for over two years. After coming to this country from Ireland she located in Iowa, later coming to Central City and in 1894 settled in Greeley where she has since resided with her son Thomas. While living in Central City, some thirty years ago, Mr. Howard died. Two daughters and two sons survive her: Mrs. Charles Brannen of Spalding, Mrs. Michael R. Fogarty of Greeley, Eugene of Fremont and Thomas of Greeley. Services were held on Sunday from St. Michaels church in Spalding with interment made in the cemetery at that place.
