Nickolas Rozeboom officiating. Interment was made at Hope Cemetery under the direction of Kraai and Van Etten funeral directors. Pallbearers were: Wm. Obituary Johanna Maria De Koster was born in Oosterwyk, Netherlands, on January 4, 1874, the daughter of Lucas De Koster and Neeltje Ver Duin. At the age of 12 she emigrated to the United States with her father and sisters and brothers. They came directly to Sioux County, Iowa, where she lived the rest of her life, having lived on farms near Maurice, Rock Valley and northwest of Hull. For many years past she had made her home with her brother, Dick De Koster, in Hull. She had her schooling principally in the Rock Valley Schools and after completion of that schooling, taught in rural schools in Sioux County and in the Sioux Center school system. Later she took a position at the former First National Bank of Hull where she became cashier, a post she held successfully for many years. She was a long time member of the First Reformed Church of Hull, and served her church well. For many years she taught a Sunday School class in that church. She was also a member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the American Reformed Church of Hull. Death came as the result of a heart failure on August 25th, 1957, at the Methodist Hospital in Sioux City. She was preceded in death by one brother, John De Koster, and is survived by her sister, Anna Meys-Dykstra of Seattle, Washington, and two brothers, Tom De Koster and Dick De Koster, both of Hull, and thirteen nieces and nephews.
