Description	:	From: Midland Times 1/2/2004 pg9 Johanna, 87, of Onslow died at the Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness. She lived on the family farm west of Onslow until moving to Anamosa to attend high school, living with her uncle and aunt, Garrett and Lizzie Harms. She worked for the Dr. Sigworth family during this time. After high school, she taught school at Castle Grove #8 for one year. She married John D. She lived on the family farm west of Onslow until moving to Anamosa to attend high school, living with her uncle and aunt, Garrett and Lizzie Harms. She worked for the Dr. Sigworth family during this time. After high school, she taught school at Castle Grove #8 for one year. She married John D. Hinrichs on May 7, 1937 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wyoming. They lived north of Onslow for a while, moved to Wisconsin, and moved back to Onslow in 1946. She was a cook at Onslow School for 12 years. In 1960, John and Johanna bought and operated J&J Sundries in Onslow until retirement. She moved into the Senior Housing and in 1996 the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until her death. She was a great Mom. She had many hobbies including, cooking, gardening, crocheting, needlework, church work and giving of herself endlessly to her family. She will be sadly missed, but we know that she is at peace in her heavenly home. She is survived by one son, Robert "Bob" Hinrichs and his wife Pat of Jolisco, Mexico; two daughters, Karen Smith and her husband Roger of Nora Springs and Joyce Davis of Cedar Rapids; a special niece, whom she reared, JoAnn Johnson, of Johnstown, NE; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lena Riches of Onslow and Amanda Parmenter of Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center; one brother, Julius (Doris) Thomsen of Center Junction; three sister-in-laws, Martha Petrick of Mt Vernon, Betty Husman of Las Vegas, NV and Buirl Thomsen of Manchester and many nieces and nephews. She was prededed in death by her husband John on December 17, 1993, parents, two brothers, Arnold and Marvin Thomsen and one sister, Anna Holtz.
