Mr. Fair was one of the oldest settlers in Iowa, a highly respected citizen. He was in his 84th year. The time of the funeral will not be announced until they hear from his son George in Colorado. Died at the residence of his son Eli, in Agency, Iowa, April 6th, 1891. John Fair was born in Caroll County Maryland September 3rd, 1807. He married Rebecca Fisher, on the 23rd of March, 1837. He lived in Maryland until 1856, when with his family he moved to this place. He was the father of ten children. All lived to be grown; two preceded him to the eternal shores, eight are still living. In the year 1836 he was received into the Luthern church, of which church he has since been a faithful member. He reached the age of 83y 7 months and 3 days. The funeral was from the M.E. church, April 7, Rev. E.J. Pike officiating. *This family has a pedigree back to John & Barbara Fair 1742.
