FAIR, pioneer contractor and manufacturer of Wapello County,Iowa, passed away yesterday at his home in Agency,Iowa. He was 71 years old. MR. FAIR lived near Agency,Iowa over 60 years, having come to Iowa with his family in the spring of 1856. For a number of years, he was a contractor and builder, and he later was identified with many business interests in Ottumwa,Iowa. In 1887 he became a member of the firm of FAIR, WILLIAMS ,and Manufactures of steel bridges and structural iron work. He retired from business about 8 years ago, and since has lived quietly at his home in Agency. He was born near Manchester, Carrol County Maryland, on February 15, 1846, in a family of ten children. Five sisters and one brother survive him. In 1869, he married to SARAH E. GILTNER; daughter of MR. and MRS. WILLIAM GILTNER, pioneers of Wapello County,Iowa. To this union were born six children; all of whom are living namely; DR. A. B.FAIR, Frederick, Oklahoma, MRS. CLYDE E. ADAMS, MRS. O.E. S;ATER and Mrs. ROY W. JOHNSON of Anamosa,Iowa, and WILLIAM E. FAOR, Cheyenne, Wyoming. The funeral will be held at the residence at 2pm, Tuesday, conducted by Rev. J.A. Wilson, pastor of Agncy M.E. Church; burial will be in Ottumwa City Cemetery.
