Description	:	Johannes was the 5th child born to Johann and Lisette (Isaak) Thimm, who came from Zeyersworden, West Prussia (today a part of Poland). He and his family spoke German, and in their churches, the sermons, Bibles and songs were all in German. He had 3 older sisters, and an older brother, Franz. His family had traveled from West Prussia to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and sojourned there for some time, while members of their church went to Gage County, Nebraska, to purchase land. His older brother, Franz and sister, Agathe, died and are buried in West Prussia. Marie, who was born after Franz and before Agathe, died in the Mount Pleasant area, and is buried in Mt. Pleasant. After Johannes was born and died, the rest of the children were born in Beatrice, Nebraska. There were 15 children in his family, including 3 sets of twins, and many of his siblings died in infancy. Johannes' father died in 1902, and his mother, Lisette, left Nebraska to travel to California.
