Description	:	ROOSE John Roose, 82, formerly of Peoria, Iowa, died April 26 at the New Sharon Care Center, New Sharon. John Cornelius Roose was born on March 28, 1902 near Harvey, Iowa, the first child born to Anthony and Betty Van Oostrum Roose. He attended the Peoria Christian Grade School in Peoria, Iowa. John Cornelius Roose was born on March 28, 1902 near Harvey, Iowa, the first child born to Anthony and Betty Van Oostrum Roose. He attended the Peoria Christian Grade School in Peoria, Iowa. On Feb. 2,1928 he was married to Ella Nieuwsma at Pella, and they had three children. Betty Jeanne, Afton Henry and Shirley Ann. Following their marriage, John farmed northwest of Peoria until 1966 when he retired. They moved into Peoria in 1971 where they resided until becoming residents of the New Sharon Care Center in New Sharon, Iowa in 1976. Ella died there Feb. 16,1977 John continued to reside there until his death. Surviving are his three children and their spouses. Betty and Peter R Jochems of Rt. 2, Pella, Afton and Rita Roose of Farmersville, Texas; Shirley, Mrs James Cormicle of Flint, Michigan; and eight grandchildren. Gary and James Jochems, Beverly, Mrs. Steve Barker; Kenneth and Robert Roose; Warren, Bill and Sheryl Cormicle. Of ,his original family, John leaves his youngest brother, Leonard J Roose of Denver, Colo. Preceding him in death besides his wife, Ella were his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Henry, who died in childhood, Jeanette: William A ; Tena, Mrs Gerrit J. Roose and Henry, and his son-in-law, James Cormicle, who died May 13, 1983 John made profession of faith at the Peoria Christian Reformed Church where he had served as a Deacon and an Elder and was a member all his lifetime. He had also served as a member of the Peoria Christian School Board. Services were held Monday, April 30, 1984 from the Peoria Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Ronald L. Bouwkamp officiating. Burial was in the Peoria Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Christian Opportunity Center The Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. (From the Pella Chronicle May 2, 1984)
