Description	:	John Abner Musgrove was born on December 5, 1870, two and a half miles west of Holton and one mile west of his home. He attended Maple Grove School in which his father had taught and where his own children received their early education, and at the time of his death he was in his eighth year as a member of the school board of that district. Read More	John Abner Musgrove was born on December 5, 1870, two and a half miles west of Holton and one mile west of his home. He attended Maple Grove School in which his father had taught and where his own children received their early education, and at the time of his death he was in his eighth year as a member of the school board of that district. When yet a young man he brought the farm adjoining his father’s, and later at the age of twenty-two he brought the farm which has since been his home. He was married on July 4, 1896, to Ethel N. Carnahan. To them were born seven children: Margaret, Marie, Aletha Mae, Clarence Abner, Ada Lucille, who preceded him by one month; Nellie Virginia, Ethel Florence and John Edward, who died in infancy …. He was deeply interested in the work of the Maple Grove Progressive Club …. From the age of fifteen to twenty-one a brother of Mrs. Musgrove, Louis Carnahan made his home with them, and for two years John Esry lived with them and started farming by Mr. Musgrove. In his early life Mr. Musgrove united with the Christian church and for a number of years has served on the board of trustees. He was also a member of the Dynamo class of the Sunday school. For fifteen years he was in partnership with Mr. Henry Sinning. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and also of the Redmen Lodges, and had just entered the Masonic order. Besides his wife and children, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Esry of Manhattan, Kan., and Mrs. McKinsey of Holton, also his mother, Mrs. E. Musgrove. He passed from this life on Tuesday morning January 11, 1921, at the age of 50 years, 1 month and 6 days …. Interment was made in the Holton cemetery. The Holton Recorder, January 20, 1921. ….
