Read More	VOTIPKA, JOHN ALBERT — John Albert Votipka was born to Benjamin Votipka and Anna (Krejci) Votipka on May 4, 1915, on a farm south of Burress, and passed away Aug. 24, 1994, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 20 days. He was one of 11 children in the family. John lived on a farm south of Burress until moving to Geneva in 1988. He attended District No. 68 country School and graduated from Geneva High School in 1933. He was a farmer and raised livestock as a lifelong occupation. He was a quiet, gentle man, who enjoyed life on the farm. He had a great love of family and friends. He loved to spend time in Burress, visiting with friends and neighbors, and always had time to help a neighbor in need. He loved animals and took great pride in tending his herd of cattle. He liked to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening and watching sports on television. Although he was ill for several years before his death, he never complained and was always an optimist. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him. He was married to Dolores Barbur White of Geneva on October 13, 1957, and to them one daughter, Anna, was born. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the Knights of Pythias, Grand Lodge No. 200. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents, Ben and Anna Votipka; brothers, William, Charles, Frank, Mike, James and Fred Votipka; sister, Helen Bernasek and a sister in infancy. He is survived by his daughter, stepsons and their wives, a stepdaughter, a sister, a brother and his wife, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva on Friday, Aug. 26, with the Rev. officiating. The pianist accompanied the singer who sang “Beyond the Sunset” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers were friends. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
