Tribune, Greeley County, Kansas: John Kean, 84 dies suddenly--Death Comes as Result of Heart Trouble at home of son in Tribune. John A Kean 84 died suddenat the home of his son, Harry E Kean in Tribune at 11o'clock Monday night. Heart trouble is said to have caused his death. mr Kean was seen in town during the day and asked at the courthouse how he was feeling said, "All right, burt, climbing those steps (to the second floor) was almost too much for me." He had several attacks of indigestion later in the day. Funeral services will be held in the Tribune Methodist Church Thursday afternoon, Dec.26, Rev. John P. White officiating. Harry Waldren will be in charge. John A. Kean was born in Franklin co, Pa, Dec 1 1851, coming to Shawnee county, Kansas in 1853 (incorrect date, probably 1883). Later he moved to Geary and Dickinson counties and in 1917 to Kiowa County, Colorado. Mr. Kean came to Greeley county in 1923 and was night clerk at the Y.M.C.A. at Horace for three years. He leaves one son, Harry E. Kean of Tribune, one daughter, Mrs. Grace Harris of Lane, Kan., and another son Ezra, and grandchildren. His wife and two daughters preceded him in death. Tribune, Greeley County, Kansas, Thursday, January 2, 1936 - "KEAN FUNERAL SERVICES HELD IN LOCAL CHURCH. Funeral services for John A. Kean were held in the Methodist church at Tribune, Thursday afternoon, Rev. John P. White officiating. Mrs Paul Pierce and Mrs Fred Shacklett sang solos at the services. Pall bearers were John Meyers, Cllaude E. Martin, G. W. Perdue, E. B. Waldren, C.E. Lndis and Tom Foley. Internment was in the Tribune cemetery. The Waldren funeral home was in charge. John A Kean was born in Franklin county, Pa, Dec. 1, 1850 (note different date in previous article), coming to Kiowa county, Colo. in 1917 and to Greeley county six years later. One son, Harry E Kean of "Tribune with whom he made his home of late, one daughter, Mrs. Grace Harris of Lane, Kansas. another son, other relatives and friends survive.
