He came to this vicinity when a young man and made his home here ever since. For many years he farmed in this community. He was married December 24, 1886 to Ida Findley who preceded him in death in 1900. Seven children were born to this union of whom two preceded their father in death. The living children are, Mrs. Clay King, Villisca, Alfred Bowers, Omaha, Mr, Harvey Cash, Temple, California, Mrs. Lorean Gilbert, Laramie Wyoming, and Lyle Bowers, San Francisco. His son Francis E was born on May 28, 1886, in Montgomery County, Iowa. His daughter Latha Lulu was born on January 29, 1888, in Montgomery County, Iowa. His daughter Bessie Laura was born on March 13, 1891, in Villisca, Iowa. His son Alfred was born on April 6, 1892, in Montgomery County, Iowa. His daughter Margaret "Maggie" was born on April 8, 1892, in Montgomery County, Iowa. His son Lyle was born on May 22, 1895, in Montgomery County, Iowa. His daughter Lorene was born in December 1896 in Montgomery County, Iowa. His wife Ida Isabel passed away on May 13, 1899, in Villisca, Iowa, at the age of 33. They had been married 14 years.
