Description	:	John Alfred King, 71, of Ravenna passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney with his wife at his bedside. John Alfred King was born June 19, 1950 in Kearney, NE to Robert Lee and Lenore (Reinertson) King. He grew up on a farm east of Hazard and as his mother taught school in Amherst, he lived there during the school weeks and attended Amherst school graduating in 1968. Read More	John Alfred King, 71, of Ravenna passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Brookstone Gardens in Kearney with his wife at his bedside. John Alfred King was born June 19, 1950 in Kearney, NE to Robert Lee and Lenore (Reinertson) King. He grew up on a farm east of Hazard and as his mother taught school in Amherst, he lived there during the school weeks and attended Amherst school graduating in 1968. He was baptized on July 16, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst and confirmed at Hazard Lutheran Church on March 22, 1964. John had a strong faith and knew where he was going after his life on earth. He passed this on to his family and was a kind and loving husband, father and grandpa. John was always reading newspapers and books. He loved history and loved a slow drive in the country. He was a country boy at heart and loved putting peanuts in his coke especially for those long country drives. He loved vacations to South Dakota, Yellowstone Park and the Grand Canyon. Johnny Cash was his favorite musician and he attended his concert in Kearney in 1974. He was also a Husker fan. He worked for Ravenna Cheese, Dairy Farmers of America, Mid-America Dairy and Leprino Foods (same company, company changeovers.) He was employed in the cheese industry for 37 years as a vat operator. He enjoyed his work starting the process to make the cheese. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church serving in different offices on the church council in the past, a past member of the Ravenna Lions Club where he enjoyed slinging Lionburgers at Annevar and serving at pancake feeds. He is survived by his wife, Donna; sons, Matt (Myra) King of Ravenna and Micah (Lauren) King of Shelton; grandchildren, Rebecca, Laura, Mason, Samuel, Joseph, Ian and Ella; brother, Gary (Joan) King of Amherst; a brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
