Description	:	John Ambrose Sampson was born April 3, 1890, at Seward, Nebr., the first son of Richard and Sarah Sampson, and passed away in his sleep at his home after a short illness on January 10, 1947, at the age of 56 years, nine months and seven days. He was reared in the Catholic faith, and spent his entire life in Seward county. On January 8, 1909, he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Rose Clara Zimmermann, who preceded him in death on Dec. 13, 1925. To this union were born three children, Mrs. R. P. Marshall of Omaha, John R. Sampson of Friend, and Mrs. R. A. Letweiller of Riverside, Calif. On October 26, 1927, he was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Martha O. Veleba of Seward. To this union was born three sons, David, James and Dennis, all at home. Besides his wife and children he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. F. D. Cocklin, of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. W. T. Souders of Kearney, Mrs. E. E. Fairbarns of San Francisco, Mrs. B. M. Hickman of Omaha, and seven grandchildren. Funeral servics were conducted by Rev. Joseph A. Kenney, assisted by Father Henry Scholtens of Friend, from St. Vincen'ts Catholic church at Seward, Monday, January 13, 1947, with burial in the Seward (north) cemetery. The pallbearers were Carl McGrew, Leonard Geesen, W. E. David, Jack Carroll, Chas. Foster and Albin Kriz. Those who from a distance attended the funeral were Mr. and Mr.s L. A. Hickman, Mrs. B. M. Hickman, Dr. and Mrs. H. M. Sampson, and Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Truesdale, all of Omaha; Mrs. E. E. Fairbarns, San Francisco; Mrs. W. T. Souders, Kearney; Mrs. Ed Veleba, Garland; Father Henry A. Scholtens, Mrs. Frank Hacker, Mrs. Emma Becker, Mr. Thomas Woulf, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stewart, Friend; Miss Merna Stewart, David City; Mr. and Mrs. John Gembler, Tamora.
