Description	:	John Anderson Stone, the son of John and Bernice (Boruff) Stone, was born on June 27, 1928 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He passed away on August 28, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 1 day. John "Johnny" attended grade school in Knoxville and high school in Detroit,Michigan. Johnny joined the United States Navy at the age of 18 serving his country for 8 years. Read More	John Anderson Stone, the son of John and Bernice (Boruff) Stone, was born on June 27, 1928 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He passed away on August 28, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 1 day. John "Johnny" attended grade school in Knoxville and high school in Detroit,Michigan. Johnny joined the United States Navy at the age of 18 serving his country for 8 years. On June 27, 1952, he married Roberta Arlene Morehead in Nelson, Nebraska by Rev. McCane. They lived all their married life in Nelson except for a few months in Knoxville. Johnny was a semi truck driver for 35 years. Driving for the Ammunition Depot, Hastings Alfalfa Mills, Doher Truck Line, Peaks Truck Line and Don Wroughton. Then due to back problems he retired in 1985. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Baptist Church in Knoxville. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved to play his guitar and sing country music, which family members and friends truly enjoyed. John entered the nursing on March 28, 2007 and resided their until his death. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, James and Andrew, and two sisters, Marge and June. Survivors include Roberta of Nelson, Nebraska; and sister-in-law, Eileen Morehead of Superior, Nebraska; seven nephews and nine nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 10:00AM from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. Stephen Berry officiating. Music was "One Day At A Time" and "Go High On The Mountain," with Royce Schott as soloist and Robert Bruce as accompanist and Jodee Miska playing the guitar. Pallbearers were Casey Troudt, Johnny Himmelberg, Jordon Kramp, Steve Rust, Eric Grassmann, and Carsen Rowley. Honorary Pallbearers were Jake White, Larry Thornberry, Ken Himmelberg, Bud Wehrman, Don Wroughton, Ron Fryda and Kevin Stout. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery at Nelson, Nebraska with Military Rites. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska was in charge of the arrangements.
