Temme John Temme was born April 23, 1953 in Eugene, Oregon to George and Julia (Kapitanovich) Temme. He passed away on September 1, 2007, in Vancouver, Washington. John is survived by his parents, George and Julia, his brothers George, Jr., Steve (Barbara), and Greg (Tanya) and his sisters Anita (Steve) Johnson and Julie (John) Mettler, nine nieces and nephews, numerous grand-nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. After attending St. Joseph's Grade School in Vancouver and Ridgefield Middle and High Schools, all in Clark County, Washington. John graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1972 and Skagit Valley Community College in 1974. He then moved back to Vancouver, Washington, where he worked at several jobs until he finally found his work home with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union (Local 290). John was proud of completing his five-year apprenticeship program with the union and serving as the former Inside Guard. He was also a delegate to the United Association's International Convention at Las Vegas, Nevada in 2006. John was active socially in the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus (#1327) and was a former member of the Skyliners Tall Club of Portland and the Fun Lovers Square Dance Club. He was also a former member of his church choir and participated in the St. James Centennial Choir. John was a life-long Catholic and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He made rosaries with stainless steel wire because it was stronger and gave them as gifts to family members and friends. The Temme family asks that donations be made in John's memory to The Renovation Fund c/o St. James Catholic Church in Vancouver, Washington or to your favorite charity. The funeral was held on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at St. James Catholic Church in Vancouver, Washington. Recitation of the rosary was held before the funeral service. To help celebrate John's new life in Heaven with Jesus Christ, the family requested that those attending John's funeral wear bright colored or Hawaiian shirts. Interment was at Mother Joseph Cemetery in Vancouver, Washington following the service.
