Description	:	John Evans was born in Franklin county, Penn., July 13, 1838, and departed this life in Lamoni, Iowa, Monday, August 31, at 9 a.m. at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 18 days. In 1857 Mr. Evans married Elizabeth Lemon of Fullerton County, Ill. To this union were born eight children five boys and three girls, all of whom survive him. In 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Evans moved from Illinois to Decatur county, Iowa. In 1878 they went to Jewell, Kansas, returning to Decatur county in 1888. Mrs. Elizabeth Evans died in Lamoni on December... Read More	John Evans was born in Franklin county, Penn., July 13, 1838, and departed this life in Lamoni, Iowa, Monday, August 31, at 9 a.m. at the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 18 days. In 1857 Mr. Evans married Elizabeth Lemon of Fullerton County, Ill. To this union were born eight children five boys and three girls, all of whom survive him. In 1869 Mr. and Mrs. Evans moved from Illinois to Decatur county, Iowa. In 1878 they went to Jewell, Kansas, returning to Decatur county in 1888. Mrs. Elizabeth Evans died in Lamoni on December 10, 1894. On March 26, 1896, Mr. Evans married Mrs. Harriett Garrison, who still survives him. The deceased hail been a member of the "Church of Christ" for over forty years, and is spoken of as a true Christian, kind friend, and loving father. The funeral was conducted from the home with Rev. Alfred Knoll in charge. Mr. Evans' remains were laid to rest beside the sacred dust of his first wife, Elizabeth Lemon Evans, in the Rose Hill cemetery west of Lamoni. Mr. Evans had the respect of all who knew him. The entire community sympathized with him as he was passing through a long and painful sickness, which resulted in his death.
