Jacobs, recently employed as night clerk in the Virginia hotel and previously employed as night clerk in the Quincy hotel, died Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock in St. Mary’s hospital, Quincy, Ill., from a sudden attack of heart trouble. He was ill only several days. He was born in Keokuk, Iowa, October 12, 1879, and was thirty-eight years old. October 30, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Celeste Potter of 1132 Broadway. Mr. Jacobs had resided in Quincy for two years, during which time he had made a large circle of friends who will regret to learn of his death. He was well liked and highly esteemed by all those acquainted with him. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Keokuk. Besides his wife, he leaves his father, J. H. Jacobs, and one brother, William Jacobs, of Keokuk, and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas John, Keokuk, and Mrs. John Hawkes of California. John B. Jacobs was a well known Keokuk boy who had may acquaintances here. For a number of years he was bailiff of the superior court and left here a short time ago for Quincy. It was understood that he passed away in the hospital while undergoing an operation.
