Description	:	John B. Willams passed away at his home here Saturday afternoon at the age of 86 years and two months. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home at 2:15 and at the Congregational Church at 2:30. Rev. Marion Sunderlin officiated. Williams was born at Elizabeth, Ill., Dec 31, 1841. He was the oldest of eleven children of the family of George W. and Lucy Williams. Father, mother, one brother, and one sister have preceded him in death. The early days of his life were spent in the vicinity of his birth. Thirty-eight years ago he came to Palo Alto County. For the past twenty-two years he has been a citizen of Emmetsburg. On March 16, 1871, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Holland. To this union four children were born: Gilbert, Florence, Arthur, and George. In early boyhood he heard and answered the call of God and dedicated his life to him. He united with the Methodist Episcopal Church and through the years has been a faithful and devoted member. Cheerfulness, a kindly spirit, charity. honesty, a belief in his fellows, kind words to each and all, these were his daily life. To know him was to respect and honor him. He was true to his trust as father, husband, friend, and citizen. The world is richer for his manner of life. Quietly he went about, unassuming in his actions. Just as quietly he built a place in many a heart that will miss him greatly. Those of the immediate family who survive are the beloved widow, children, Gilbert of Long Beach, California, Mrs. L. C. Thompson of Estherville, George of Cedar Rapids, brothers and sisters, George of Elizabeth, Ill., Mrs. Maria Miller, Detroit, Mich., James, Mount Carroll, Ill., Frank, Steamboat Springs, Colo., Samuel, Calgary, Canada, Mrs. Elmer Goldthorp, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Jo Ann Rottman, Salt Lake City, Utah. There are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
