Again we are called upon to chronicle the death of an old and highly respected citizen, John Bandy, who passed away at the People's hospital in Indpendence on Nov. 23, 1926, after an illness of three weeks following an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Bandy was born Jan. 7, 1860, in Skeychor, Bohemia, being nearly 67 years of age at the time of his death. In 1867 he came with his parents to this country, the family settling in Wisconsin. Later, in the same year, they removed to Iowa. On Sept. 21, 1881, Mr. Bandy was married to Miss Elizabeth Lantern. They made their home on a farm near Lamont until 1921, when they came to Dundee, which has since been their home. Four children were born to them--John, Theodore, William, and Emma--all of this vicinity, who, with the faithful wife and mother, survive him. An only brother preceded him death in 1917 in Bohemia. Mr. Bandy was of a quiet, retiring disposition and will be sadly missed, not only by his loved ones, but by other relatives and many friends in this community. Funeral services were held from the Wesleyan Methodist church Friday afternoon, the Rev. Bert Griffin officiating, and music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Griffin, who sang several consoling hymns. The floral offerings were both beautiful and profuse. Burial was made in Spring Hill cemetery, the casket bearers being John and Thos. Houska, John Kash, Frank Wesley, Jos. Dozark and Frank Svoboda.
