Welch had gone to Wood River to look at some land and was on his way to inspect a farm a mile from that town when killed. He had decided to make the trip on foot... The train was stopped and word immediately sent for a company physician at Wood River. The aged man lived but a half hour. The body was turned over to Undertaker Ira Anderson at Wood River. Ben J. Cunningham, acting coroner in the absence of Mr. Suhr, investigated and decided there be no need of an inquest since there was no question as to the manner of his death. A daughter, Mrs. C. A. Boardman, resides in the 1000 block on East Tenth street in this city. Another daughter lived in Gordon, Neb. The latter came here yesterday. The body was brought here today in Anderson's hearse and was to be conveyed that way to St. Edwards, where burial will take place. The deceased was born in England. He was a widower. . .
