Description	:	Funeral services for the late J. B. (Ford) Findling are to be held at the Young Funeral home on West Jefferson street, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. J. W. Rose, of Bluffton, former local pastor, assisted by Rev. True S. Haddock and Rev. L. R. Gray, officiating. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 7:00 o'clock Saturday night until the hour of services and friends may call any time. Internment is to be in Fairview cemetery. Internment is to be in Fairview cemetery. The full name of "Ford" Findling was John Blackford Findling and was acquired by an unusual incident. His parents Valentine and Louisa Findling were residing in Indianapolis at the time of his birth in 1865, the father having purchased property on the Circle in that city, and followed his trade of plastering before removing to Tipton county. The parents had been on a visit to relatives in Ohio and were returning by boat down the Ohio river, when his birth occurred. The captain of the boat was John Blackford, who saw that the mother and babe had every care, and stopped his boat at the first small town on the Indiana shore and assisted in removing mother and son from the boat. The parents, through thankfulness to him, named the son John Blackford Findling. He was the youngest of three children born to Valentine and Louisa (Geyer) Findling and was born March 1, 1865, his mother dying when he was not yet three years of age. The father remarried to Miss Margaret Kiser and they were the parents of five children. the deceased was united in marriage on Sept. 7, 1887, to Miss Irene Ludlow, whose death occurred after a short period and on June 8, 1911, he was married to Mrs. Georgia Grace Tyner, who survives. Other survivors are a brother William, and half-brothers, C.E. Findling, H.C. Findling, Arthur Findling; and a half- sister, Mrs. Lela Vandevender.
