In her book, " My Mother Was A Presson: The Presson Family of the South," published in 1974, Mary Lee Martin Ervin incorrectly lists John Bunyan's name as "John Benjamin." This is an error...believed to have resulted from incorrectly transcribing the estate settlement records of Samuel Presson, in Union County, NC. In these records, John Bunyan is written in a scribbled manner, and in this record it does appear as if perhaps John's name could be "John Benjamin" rather than "John Bunyan."
