Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Mr. Armstrong, 76, died Tuesday. He was born in Garfield County and was raised in Pomeroy, Washington. He graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla in 1939. He served in the Army in Europe during World War II and was involved in the Normandy Invasion, battles in Central France, and in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Armstrong later attended law school at the University of Oregon. He transferred to Gonzaga University in 1947. He began working for the farm publications in 1947. He was promoted to managing editor in 1968. He retired in 1982 after 34 years of service. Mr. Armstrong was former president of the Spokane Press Club. He attended Fourth Memorial Church for 25 years. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Alice E. Armstrong, at the home; a son, Charles A. Meyers of Portland; a daughter, Kathleen A. Markus of Tucson, Arizona; a brother, J. Herbert Armstrong of Forest Grove, Oregon; and a sister, Wilma Klavano of Las Vegas, Nevada.
