C. Peterson of Corning about 4 o'clock Wednesday morning, aged 76 years, 7 months, and 24 days. He was one of a family of nine children - all of which have preceded him in death, with the exception of one brother, Oscar Caywood, of Skidmore, Missouri. On December 34, 1889 he was united in marriage to Cora Sebring of Omaha, Nebraska, and to this union seven children were born. Gertrude passed away in infancy, and his good wife and helpmate passed away February 7, 1913. His life work was farming. He was a good father, his firth thoughts were always of his family. After the death of his wife, he kept the home together and cared for his small children. He joined the Methodist Church at Reno, Iowa when a young man. He was a faithful member always. Most of his life was spent in Cass County. In 1923 he moved to Corning and helped with the county bridge work several years. He wasn't able to work the last few years, but always cared for himself. He leaves to mourn three sons and three daughters: Goldie Mathews of Detroit, Michigan; Orval Caywood of Des Moines, Iowa; Maud Peterson, of Corning, Iowa; Muriel Waller, of Lamont, Iowa; Calvin Caywood, of Estherville, Iowa, Iowa; and Paul Caywood, of Detroit, Michigan. There are also 19 grandchildren, two of the boys, Kenneth Mathews and Kelsie Caywood in the service of their country with the marines, and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Boyd Roland Funeral Home in Corning, Friday afternoon, June 11, 1943, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. E. Nelson, pastor of the Federated Church of Corning. Burial was made in the Reno Cemetery in Cass county. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Goldie Mathews and daughter, Maud, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Caywood of Detroit, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Orval Caywood and daughter, Jean, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Caywood and three daughters of Estherville, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Waller and three sons of Lamoni; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Caywood and daughter, Catherine, and son and Mr. Stevens of Skidmore, Missouri.
