Description	:	John Calvin Parrott was the second of ten children born to Lewis Milton Parrott and Martha Almeada Heath Parrott. His siblings were: Lola, Howard M., Carlyle B., Grace, Max, Benjamin, Beulah, Etna, and Willis (Bus). John attended school at the Oakfield Academy in the village of Oakfield, just east of Brayton, Iowa. On February 2, 1914, he married Hazel Catherine Cousins, daughter of Joshua and Susan Jane Cousins. They were married in Audubon by the Rev. Ed B. Cousins. J.C. and Hazel Parrott lived on a farm for a year and then moved to Exira and went into the produce business. In 1920, they moved to Audubon and started the Audubon Produce Company, which he operated for 50 years. He served as mayor of Audubon in the 1930's, and was a member of the Masons, Odd Fellows and Elk Lodges. He joined the Methodist Church in 1925. He was active in Boy Scouts program and helped with many school and civic projects. J.C. and Hazel Parrott had three children: Gertrude LaVona (b.14 Feb 1915, Brayton); Joshua Milton (b. 28 Feb 1917, Exira); and John Calvin II (b. 13 Sept 1919, Exira). Hazel died August 6, 1948 and is buried in the Exira Cemetery. On January 15, 1956, J.C. Parrott married Lenore Weighton Holland. She passed away Nov. 6, 1974 and is buried in the Audubon Cemetery. J.C. Parrott died July 21, 1972 and is buried in the Exira cemetery.
