Description	:	John Carl Horne was born to Richard H. and Doris E. Hetherington Horne on June 11, 1946, and passed away on February 8, 1980, at Exeter at the age of 33 years and 7 months. Mr. Horne was one of three children in the family. He was a lifetime resident of Exeter and was a graduate of the Exeter public schools with the class of 1965. John served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 218. He was a director of the Rural... Read More	John Carl Horne was born to Richard H. and Doris E. Hetherington Horne on June 11, 1946, and passed away on February 8, 1980, at Exeter at the age of 33 years and 7 months. Mr. Horne was one of three children in the family. He was a lifetime resident of Exeter and was a graduate of the Exeter public schools with the class of 1965. John served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 218. He was a director of the Rural Fire department; member of the Fillmore County Farm Bureau and farmed in the Exeter community for the past 10 years. He was married to Cherlyn Johnson of Exeter on April 12, 1969, and they were the proud parents of two adopted children. Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Horne, on November 1, 1961. John was a perfect example of a husband, father and friend. He loved children and especially proud to have the chance to adopt two beautiful children to call his own. He was a lover of his livestock and his animals knew it. Survivors include his wife, Cherlyn; daughter Allyson Marie; and son, John Harve; his mother, Doris E. Ehrisman, and step-father, Donald R. Ehrisman, of Milford; sister, Mrs. Gary (Frances) Rasmussen of Vermillion, S.D.; and brother, James R. HOrne of Exeter; seven nephews and three nieces. Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, at the United Church of Christ with Rev. Randy Middleton and Msgr. Ingenhorst officiating. Organist was Mrs. J. E. Mitchell and Robert Rhodes was vocalist. Pallbearers were Glen Coffey, Mark Becker, Ralph Jansen, Melvin Motis, Robert Harre and Dale Mason.
