Brown in April 1916.They farmed in Johnson Twp,Iowa,Plymouth County.He was proud of his purebred White Chester Hog and Shornhorn Cattle.The family was affiliated with Adaville Church almost from the beginning.They were blessed with three sons,Harold,Gordon and Eldon.Survivors include beloved wife Alice;three son,Harold,Gordon & wife Peggy(Morey)and their son Barton,Eldon and wife Penelope (Tsitouras) and their three children,John,Curtis and Sylvia. Bryant Are Held On Tuesday Of Last Week Mention was made in these columns last week of the death of John C. Bryant, a prominent Johnson Township farmer, at his home there Sunday morning, February 9, 1941, aged 82 years, 4 months and 24 days, due to the infirmities of advanced age. John C. Bryant was born at Springfield, New York, September 16, 1858, and was: a son of James Bryant and Jane Fortescue Bryant, who came from England in. the fifties and settled in New York state. J. C. Bryant received his education in his native state and assisted his father in gardening, and in his youth learned the molder's trade. Coming west, he farmed a few years in Iowa county, Iowa, and located in Plymouth County in 1891, purchasing 100 acres of wild prairie land in Johnson Township and establishing a home there. In 1900 Mr. Bryant was united in marriage with Miss O. E. Wilson, of Belle Plaine, Iowa. She died in 1908, and he was married April 27, 1910, to Miss Alice M. Brown. Mr. Bryant was a successful and progressive farmer and stockman and acquired more land, which he always kept in a. high state of cultivation, while the fine modern residence, large barn granaries and other buildings are among the best in the county. He was widely known as a breeder of Durham cattle and Chester White hogs for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant have been identified with church and community work for many years,, being members of the United, Brethren, church at Adaville. He was an ardent supporter of the Republican party and took a keen interest in public affairs. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Harold, Eldon and Gordon Bryant, at home, and' a brother,, Alfred Bryant, living near Belle Plaine, Iowa. A man of sterling character, integrity, and industrious habits; a kind husband and father, and a helpful neighbor and friend. He was highly esteemed by all who, knew him. Funeral services were held: Tuesday afternoon of last week in the, United Brethren Church, at Adaville and interment was in the cemetery-there.
