Replogle, age 89, died here at 10 o'clock yesterday evening at the home of his son, Henry Replogle. Mr. Replogle was a resident of Liberty township, Henry county, for 50 years and was well known in that county. He is survived by his son, Henry, and a daughter, Mrs. Martha Robertson also of Hagerstown. The funeral will be held at the Brick Church, west of Hagerstown, at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The burial will take place in the church cemetery. Published Jan. 14, 1920 - New Castle Daily Courier, New Castle, IN CHICAGO: Many relatives and old neighbors from Liberty township attended the funeral of John Replogle at the Brethren church near Hagerstown Sunday. Mr. Replogle had been a resident of this township for more than 50 years, but had lived with his son, Henry, at Hagerstown during the last two years. He was almost 90 years of age and is survived by one son, who is 70 years old, also by one daughter, Mrs. D. F. Robertson. Marriage records show John married Elizabeth Crull on Oct. 18, 1849 in Henry Co., IN. Taken from the book Biographical Memoirs of Henry County, Indiana - B. F. Bowen, publisher, 1902: John N. Replogle was the father of Henry H. Replogle and the son of Samuel Replogle. John was the eldest of six children. He remained at home during his youth and received a good common school education. He married Miss Elizabeth Crull, a native of Wayne Co. Her parents were originally from Pennsylvania, but later came to Ohio, where they were married, finally making their home in Wayne Co., this state. John N. Replogle commenced his active career in Wayne Co., but afterward went to Huntingdon Co., this state where he purchased 80 acres. After living there for 5 or 6 years he sold it and returned to Wayne Co., where he purchased 105 acres. He lived upon that until 1864, when he came to Henry Co. and bought 160 acres. He was successful in his operations and added to his original purchase until he owned 250 acres. He was in politics an active Republican and in religion a German Baptist. To him and his wife were born two children: Henry H. and Martha J., the wife of D. F. Robertson, a farmer of Liberty twp., this county.
