Description	:	JOHN DEE MARTIN John Dee Martin, son of Robert and Maria Martin, was born April 24, 1867, near Lakin, Illinois. He departed this life November 19, 1944, at St. John's hospital in Salina, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 5 days. In the year of 1880 he came to Beloit with his mother, two sisters, and four brothers, to join his father and an older brother who had preceded them to Kansas by several months. Read More	JOHN DEE MARTIN John Dee Martin, son of Robert and Maria Martin, was born April 24, 1867, near Lakin, Illinois. He departed this life November 19, 1944, at St. John's hospital in Salina, at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 5 days. In the year of 1880 he came to Beloit with his mother, two sisters, and four brothers, to join his father and an older brother who had preceded them to Kansas by several months. They settled on their father's homestead southwest of Simpson, where he became interested in farming. From there they moved to their new home one mile north of Glasco, where the father died in February 1884. In the spring of 1886, he, with his mother, and her family, moved to Lane county, Kansas. On May 2, 1890, he was united in marriage to Mary Catlin at Dighton, Kansas, and to this union one daughter was born, who died in infancy. Mr. Martin, with his faithful helpmate, has resided in this community for the last fifty-four years, except for a few years spent in Iowa. He was a member of the Methodist church, and for many years he was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Glasco. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, four sisters, and two brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing, his faithful wife, Mary; two brothers, Frank, of Holly, Colo., and Cecil, of Glasco; a nephew, Lloyd Catlin, who grew to manhood in the Martin home, and numerous other nieces and nephews. His memory will long be cherished by his many friends and neighbors who will miss his cheering words and friendly smile. Funeral services were held at the Stine Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. on November 21, the Reverend R.R. Braddick officiating. Interment was at the Glasco cemetery.
