Johann/John Dirk Eilers, son of Hans Jurgen and Talke Margareta (Janssen) Eilers was born 11 Feb. 1815 at Wiesederfehn, East Frisia Germany. He died at Sterling, Nebraska April 10, 1885. He married three times. His first wife, the mother of Anna M., Meta and John Frederick, died in Germany in 1849, when her youngest child was seven years old. His second wife, Etta Gehden Agena, died in Germany 10 January 1854. She was the mother of two children; Trinye (Tena) M. and Gade J. Eilers.... Read More	married to Etta C. He died at Sterling, Nebraska April 10, 1885. He married three times. His first wife, the mother of Anna M., Meta and John Frederick, died in Germany in 1849, when her youngest child was seven years old. His second wife, Etta Gehden Agena, died in Germany 10 January 1854. She was the mother of two children; Trinye (Tena) M. and Gade J. Eilers. His third wife, Ettie C. died in Sterling, Nebraska 7 April 1883 at the age of 67. She left no issue. All of his children except Meta, are mentioned in his will which was dated 3 November 1883. As a widower, John Dirk Eilers came to America with his five small children. He settled in Nebraska where engaged in farming in 1858. The following death notice appeared in a newspaper dated 14 April 1883; "Died Mrs. J.D. Eilers, aged 67. Buried Saturday at the German graveyard west of town (Sterling). She was born 13 April 1817.
