Bruno, Oct. 4 - John Dolista, respected resident of Bruno 41 years, passed away at the Schuyler hospital on Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, at 8:50 o'clock, following an illness of five weeks due to prostrate troubles and complications, and during which time he underwent a surgical operation. His final illness was preceded by a long standing kidney ailment. John Dolista was born in Zaluze, near Tabor, in Bohemia, on May 12, 1859, the son of Frank and Marie Dolista, and was 70 years, 4 months and 18 days of age at time of his death. In April, 1882, he married Miss Marie Hajek, at Stari Sedlo, Bohemia. They were the parents of three sons and five daughters. Two daughters, Anne and Marie, died in infancy at Kovarove, Bohemia, and one grown son, John P., died at Abie during the flu epidemic 10 years ago. On coming to the United States the Dolista family lived at Milford for a time. Since 1888 they have resided in Bruno. Since that year Mr. Dolista had been an empolyee of the F. E. & M. V. Railway Company and of the C. & N. W. Railway Company. Of the 41 years spent in the service of the railroad, the past 29 years had been as section foreman at Bruno. On August 1, 1929, Mr. Dolista was retired on a pension by the railway company, and with his wife moved into the comfortable home they had built in advance of Mr. Dolista's retirement. Funeral services were held on Friday morning at 10 o'clock from the home to St. Anthony's Catholic church, Rev. Father Bauer saying the Requiem Mass and having charge of the burial service. Interment was in St. Anthony's parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Louis Knakal, Frank Nekl, J. G. Slosser, John Kastl, J. F. Coufal and Frank Husak. Mr. Dolista was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America fraternal order and until recently of the Z. C. B. J. lodge. His life was one of useful activity and until he reached the three score and ten years of his life he quietly and efficiently went about the labor of the day. His calm and friendly disposition never made an enemy, and his attention to his own affairs won the respect of everyone. He was the last surviving member of his parents' family. Mr. Dolista is survived by his wife, two sons, Edward J. and Louis, and three daughters, Mrs. Carrie (Charles) Kolar, of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Adela (J. M.) Sypal, of Brainard and Miss Vilma Dolista of Beverly Hills, Calif., all of whom were in attendance at his deathbed and funeral. The funeral was very largely attended by relatives and friends and there were many beautiful floral pieces. Among those coming from a distance were Mrs. Vincent Dolista.
