Description	:	John E. Hunter, the son of Elmer and Grace (McVey) Hunter, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on June 8,1904 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on August 29, 1992 at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 21 days. He grew up at Stockham and graduated from Stockham High School. After graduation he farmed northeast of Stockham. From 1942 to 1946 he worked at the Harvard Air Base, helping with construction of the base. In 1944, he and his mother moved into Stockham. Hunter, the son of Elmer and Grace (McVey) Hunter, was born at Stockham, Nebraska, on June 8,1904 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on August 29, 1992 at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 21 days. He grew up at Stockham and graduated from Stockham High School. After graduation he farmed northeast of Stockham. From 1942 to 1946 he worked at the Harvard Air Base, helping with construction of the base. In 1944, he and his mother moved into Stockham. From 1946 to 1952, he operated the Hunter Garage and then drove a gravel truck until 1955, when he was employed by Hamilton County as a road grader operator, until he retired in 1969. John was the Stockham town board mayor for a number of years and was also the cemetery sexton many years until July of 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Lillian Rewolinski, Maude Burmood, an infant sister Ellen May Hunter and Vesta Violet Hunter, who was 12 years old. He is survived by one sister, Helen Margaret Nicholaus of Attica, Michigan and 3 nieces, Jeanette Griess, Elaine Smart and Donna Lefler; and 5 nephews, Joe Rewolinski, Eugene Rewolinski, Vern Nicholaus, Dale Burmood and Ervin Burmood.
