One of Mr. Eden’s neighbors noticed that he was not about doing his chores Friday morning and made an investigation. He found Mr. Eden lying on the floor of his kitchen dead. The lamp was still burning on the table and his bed clothing was turned back, as if he had been preparing to retire when death called him. Mr. Eden was born at the town of Upschoert, Ostfriesland, Germany, September 10, 1863. He was a son of the late Eilke and Margaret (nee Hinrichs) Eden. He was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran church at Reepsholt. He emigrated to the United States i9n 1894, accompanied by his father and sister, Mary. The mother had died in Germany a few years before. The father died seven years ago. After his father’s death, Mr. Eden continued to live on the same 20 acre farm in Wayne Township until death claimed him. He was never in rugged health since an operation which was performed upon him a number of years ago. He is survived by one full sister, Mrs. D.J. Dirks, and two half-sisters, Mrs. Meta Otten and Mrs. Johanna Dirks. The funeral was held last Sunday afternoon. Short services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Dirks at 1:30 o’clock and at 2 o’clock at Zion’s Lutheran church at Wayne Center. Rev. J. Willms had charge of both services.
