Description	:	Howard County Herald Wednesday 29 Feb 1956 John Edward Ferris was born at Anamosa, Iowa on Nov. 9, 1867 to Jeddidire (sic) and Mary Ferris. His parents came from Iowa to St. Paul when he was a small child. He worked for the late Nicholas J. Paul for many years and then went to California where he obtained work. His parents came from Iowa to St. Paul when he was a small child. He worked for the late Nicholas J. Paul for many years and then went to California where he obtained work. He was married to Charlotte Lambert at Riverside, Cal., July 20, 1898. shortly after their marriage they returned to St. Paul and lived there until about 1926 when they moved to Yakima, Wash. In 1946, they returned to St. Paul for several years, then moved to Scappose, Oregon. Mrs. Ferris passed away Sept. 14, 1954 and Mr. Ferris returned to St. Paul to make his home with his sister, Alice. Mr. Ferris was a member of the St. Paul Masonic Lodge No. 82 AF & AM and attended the Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry, two sisters, Mrs. Abigail Bartholomew and Mrs. Mary Jacobs. He is survived by his sister Alice, St. Paul; a step-son, Benjamin of Scappose, Oregon, several nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Keating Mortuary with Rev. Kenneth L. Christensen, officiating. Rev. and Mrs. Richard Olson sang "Abide With Me" and "Sunrise" accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Christensen at the piano. Serving as pallbearers were: Edward Paulsen, Richard Haggart, Harvey Nielsen, Edward Dvoracek, Floyd McLain, Clayton Jacobs. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery with Masonic rites, conducted by St. Paul Lodge No. 82, AF & AM. Present from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Irving Ferris, Mrs. William Weige, Norfolk; Mr. and Mrs. George McMullen, Mrs. Lawney L. Rathman, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. McMullen, all of Grand Island; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle E. Woods, Wood River, John Jacobs, Dannebrog.
