Born Aug. 13, 1923, in Amesville, he was the son of the late John Frank and Mary Thompson Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a retired oil field worker, an Army veteran of World War II serving with the 82nd Airborne Division, and a member of Athens American Legion. He is survived by two sons; four daughters; nine grandchildren; a brother of Chesterhill Route 1; and a sister of Amesville Route 1. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Richard; and a sister, Betty Robertson. Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Mount Hermon Community Church with Father John Mucha officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by Athens American Legion Post. Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, where Rosary will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
