Mr. Welschmeyer was born Aug 29, 1918 at Freeburg to Gerhard Welschmeyer and the former Anna Pohl. He was married Jun 6, 1945 at Rich Fountain to the former Rita M. Klebba, who survives at the home. A lifelong resident of Freeburg, he served as a corporal in the Army during World War II. After working in his own garage in Freeburg, he worked for Nelson Boes Insulation, Roark Aluminum, and McGraw-Edison. Mr. Welschmeyer was a member of Holy Family parish. He is survived by six daughters, Anita Backues and Joleen Winkelman, both of Freeburg, Denise Nilges of Westphalia, Yvonne Hoerschgen of Bonnots Mill, Margaret Wieberg of St. Anthony, and Lynn Koerber of Jefferson City; four sons, Daryl Welschmeyer of Jefferson City, Wayne Welschmeyer of Henley, Mark Welschmeyer of Irving, TX, and Theodore Welschmeyer of Mesa, AZ; two brothers, Frank Welschmeyer and Martin Welschmeyer, both of Freeburg; and four sisters, Josepha Hausotter, Genevieve Lewis, Marie Billet, and Rita Welschmeyer, all of St. Louis. Preceding him in death were two other brothers, Anton Welschmeyer and James Welschmeyer; four other sisters, Cordilla Ellison, Sr. Gerarda (Evelyn) Welschmeyer, Frances Houston, and Bertha Volmert; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
