John Edwards was born at Highland, Wisc., Jan. 14, 1865, and so was 62 years, 5 months and 11 days at the time of his death. The family came to Iowa in 1883 and settled in the vicinity of Ireton. In 1884 he was united in marriage with Miss Dell Griffith at Calliope and this union was blessed with three children. One son J.H. Edwards, passed away in 1917, Mrs. Nellie Bailey and Jesse C.Edwards of Le Mars, together with the widow survive him. Followung their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Edwards engaged in farming for a time and later they moved to Ireton where Mr. Edwards engaged in the livery business. In 1912 he moved to Le Mars where he made his home continuously since then. Besides his wife and two children, he leaves a brother, George Edwards of Sioux Falls, and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Rubido of Georgetown, Colo., and Mrs. W.I. Knowlton of Ireton. While a resident of Ireton Mr. Edwards served in civic capacities and was interested in Community affairs. He was a member of the Elks and Eagle lodges.
